I translated some messures from inch into cm, add a handweel and start cutting. It needs some hours, but afeter this, I starded with the assembly, but failed partially. The result, I called "Qusimodo-Press", cause it became crooked, but ist works, 'cause the rollers are still parallel...

Now it is so, that the print format is "ATC"-size. The size of (Artists) Trading Cards.

But the smallest size, I'm working with is 4 x cm.

So I've had an idea:

Press shink to 55% of the Original.

Ok, this is only an model, to find out the right design, but it is for 4 x 4 cm-prints on 5 x5 cm paper!

So I took on the challenge of constructing all parts, also the rollers of the press, from 3 mm plywood.

Laser cutten plywood and the drawing of that plate.

Next step was to realise a working-model of the Micro"R"Press, as I called it.

And it works, I could assambly the prototype of a Micro"R"Press.

The Micro"R"Press with its gear(s).

I prefer a gear drive version, like the first "WeeWoody Rewmbradt Press".

"Actually" I immediately had an idea for the implementation of Steffis view. But today, 5 weeks later, I know that idea and implementation are by no means the same.

Also einen dritten Ansatz wagen...
"Dear Scrap-book-ladies from YouTube, thank you so much!"

From the picture I got the plants + the wire mesh bridle.
So I thought, quite simply, to cover up the rest and then print the plants + background in green, the wire mesh fence + background in red ... but it didn't work out, because instead of a dark brown tone, the mixing only produced a light brown. The chain link fence goes down completely ...
Therefore a new attempt. so that the color comes out rich, in screen printing (serigraphy).
This time the gold / black contrast is nice, but too much is lost from the foliage. The red bridle is too "thin" too. It struck me that the second fence is somehow "useless".
But repeating the fence was important to me to make it clear.
So take a third approach ...
This time again in thermal fax printing "quick & dirty" and highlight the two chain link fences as HotEmbossing. So I went back to stamp production for the first time after almost exactly 1 year. And I quickly made a mistake: the cover film for the stamp mass (photopolymers) was not stretched and generated waves on the surface of the stamp ... arrrgh!
Okay ... new stamp made and, after a few adjustments to the new stamp positioning help, finally HotEmbossed. "Dear Scrap-book-ladies from YouTube, thank you so much!"
Also Comic.

... first the gull, on the top left, inspired me. I wanted to let them fly as swirls around Jean-Louis' head, supported by congenial. But in time, Jean-Louis made me happy about Roy Lichtenstein's work. So comic. My version of the selfie was created with a lot of pixelation and a mix of thermal fax printing "quick & dirty" and hand-screen printing (serigraphy).
Druck?
Kommt bald.

The tricky thing about printing is that it warps the thermal printing film in the printing direction.
This does not happen with hand screen printing. In this case, I had to distort the film for the exposure of the screen by 1.41 mm in height so that the print fits the thermofax print exactly.
I made the final 5th print run again in thermofax printing.Looking forward to the 4th print?
Coming soon.
...Ok, it is a "quick&dirty"-print, just to realize the idea, to print the engraving into 5mm acrylic-glass.

Just I'ver tried it with a bigger one picture, but the engraving area was not smooth enough...

The engraving above, I've lasered two times with an 3'000 mW mini-laserengraver. It is very small, but I'll try it now with a bigger sized picture.

Photo-Print from Laser XylogravurYesternight I've been more successful in laser-engraving wooden-blocks and printing them.
I used 2 colors, 1st. blue, 2nd. in black. Also I used 2 different kinds of wood... with two different thickness. So I've had some problems with adjusting the hight of the two blocks, 'cause I printed both colors "wet in wet"".
But I was too curious to see a result... and it works... not sooo good as I hoped, but... take a look by yourself:
To end this night with success, I tried to engrave simple black/white letters for a letterpress-print.
The font "Mesquite" is not my favorite, but it has some small details.
The result was brilliant, as you can see.
For printing I use the Mini.Halfewood-Press.
Last November I bought a "Mini-Laser-Engraver" and made my first trials to use ply-wood-laser-engraves as relief-prints.
The size is just limited to 3.5 cm x 3.6 cm and it lasts finally about some hours to engrave, but the result is so fine ;-)
The Blog of Squigglemom tells you, how Patricia Tsolasue and her friend Caprice Rothe forced the Gestetner Copy-Master-Screen to work as usual Thermofax-Screen, instead of the new and bad working RISO-Thermofax-Screen.
Take a peek, if you are disappointed with the new RISO-Screens!ekkhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00357939846587989208noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7540817604867339949.post-28040237378206326152018-03-31T23:50:00.001+02:002018-04-03T00:45:22.287+02:00Testing the new Mini-Halfwood-Press

Often used with plates of artificial-glass.
Now I've found out a technic, I call it "Hot-Point-Intaglio".
First prints (not really art, but try-outs), I've printed with the pasta-press.
I've used PET, available in DoIt-Shops, thickness 0,7 mm, from a roll.
With the first contact with a hotgun, it becomes flat - very nice.
I warmed it up an pressed it at first with a 40er sand-paper (today I think 80er would be better).
The structure of the impressed sand-paper, I could flatten at a small a part (red arrow), to look how I can made an Mezzotinto-Effect with this technic.
I've printed the first color (blue) and sanded the plate with 240er, to see, how much color will be take into the plate now. I've printed the plate in red. ... and also a red print over the blue one.

left the PET-Plate (sorry, upside down), the blue print, with the retouched part (red arrow), to test the mezzotints-style. under this the red print, smoothed with 240er sand-paper. Right the print with two colors.

Later I've had the idea to press the sand-paper a second time on the plate, but when I heated the plate, the surface becomes flat again, no structure anymore ;(
So took a new plate, pressed ist with the sand-paper ad put some hot metal-pices on the plat. It works, but the small items sticked in the surface...
Ok. It was just the 2nd try. I printed it in blue...
I've used from two up to four colors. All printed on cardboard 250 / 300 g/m2 with Acryl-Colors.
Every Card with 50 copies. 50 copies are just enough to keep fun when printing.
More copies becomes w o r k .
Some new experiances:
> with the Brother PJ-723 it is possible to burn "infinity" CopyPrinter-Masters, in the width of max. 21cm. I use only 20cm, because the angel of retraction must be very, very 90°.
> When burning the Master, it becomes longer... and more length, when getting wet by color and streched by the squeegee, and I'm talking about cm!
If you want a matching of the different color, you should swage the picture with your program before printing on the Master.
> Printing with metallic-colors... is not so easy. This time I printed the "salmon" several times, with drying inbetween with a hair-dryer.
The color sticked the Master very quick, so I used for every picture a new Master-film, because the material is very cheap. If you have only one burned Master, you better wash it out.

Nevertheless, it was a very good experiance with the "quick&dirty" thermofax-printing.
Now I know, how I can print very quick in very big sizes...
Ok, Andy Warhol did it before, but he used the "complex" screen-printing-system.

I wish you nice celebration-days... with large prints ;o)
